State of Alaska – Alaska Clean Water Actions FY17 Grant Application is now open. http://dec.alaska.gov/Water/acwa/onlineACWAapp.htm
The annual Alaska’s Clean Water Actions (ACWA) grant request is now open. The deadline for applications is 5 pm on February 16, 2016. The grant request is looking for proposals to address:
- Stewardship activities – projects which fall in this category may be done throughout the state.
- Waterbody specific activities – specific projects on individual waters are requested
The grant period is State Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17), July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017. Select projects have been identified as 2-year projects (FY17 and FY18). Only one grant application is required for these multi-year projects. Although the award for the second year (FY18) of the project will not be officially decided until the next grant cycle, the proposal will not need to be resubmitted.
Select projects/waters have been identified as high-priority and will receive extra bonus points. These projects closely align with the goals established in DEC’s strategic plans.
The Alaska’s Clean Water Actions (ACWA) was established by the Governor’s office and Alaska’s resource agencies to prioritize waterbodies for appropriate stewardship actions and to better coordinate resources and agency efforts to protect and restore these waterbodies. The State agencies involved are the Departments of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Natural Resources (DNR), and Fish and Game (DF&G). The ACWA grant solicitation is only one of many activities which are undertaken individually and jointly by these state resource agencies in support of maintaining the integrity of Alaska’s water resources.
